The Governor, Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong has achieved great feats and wordy to be in Cherry Book.Born as Simon Bako Lalong on the 5th of may 1963, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong has climed various ladder in the spheres of life to becoming 2 time consecutive Governor of Plateau State.
While we are not going to go into details his academic prowess from his childhood, it is important to bring to note that he was a legal practitioner after obtaining his LLB Degree from Ahmadu Bello University, and his LLM Degree from University of Jos Before delving into politics.
The Introduction of Democratic governance in 1999 saw the emergence of Simon Bako Lalong as member Plateau State House of Assembly elect representing Shandam Constituency. He went on to become the first Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly when they where inaugurated in the year 2000.His Leadership in the State Assembly was great that he letter became Chairman, Conference of Speakers in Nigeria in the year 2005 to 2006.
He was elected Governor of Plateau state in April 2015 massively against the plan of the incumbent. This was his first tenure as Governor of Plateau State which elapsed on the 28th of May, 2019.
Meanwhile, He also won his re-election bid for the 2019-2023 political year as Governor of Plateau State when he defeated his closest opponent from the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Rt. Gen. J. T. Useni in the polls.
He was sworn in for the second consecutive tenure on the 29th of May, 2019 to continue the Rescue Mission he started in his first administration.
Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong is known as Mr. Alert by the civil service community owing to his ability to keep his promise on payment of salaries as at when due unlike his predecessor who they accuse of starving them by owing them months of salaries and instituting no work no pay bill when they attempted to go striking in protest.
The Governor, Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong is happily married and blessed with kids.
